Something about Peter Mackechnie

I am  a dynamic executive coach with over 9 years managing my own coaching and mentoring business and over 20 years senior and middle leadership and management experience, all of which delivered extensive change results for my clients.

Background – My background ranges from managing large cultural and organisational change projects to coaching and mentoring executives and managers from major companies such as the Royal Bank of Scotland, Highlands and Islands, Sytner Car Group and Scottish Water, as well as a variety of SME companies across the UK. The vast majority of my coaching work is on a one-to-one basis and concentrates on developing keys strengths, not weaknesses.

In addition to my Executive Coaching skills I have specialist experience in Leadership and Management Programs, communications, strategic and business planning and people development systems.

Coaching has been the primary Leadership and Management style I have used throughout my career to date, and I am passionate about the outcomes that my clients experience when working with me. My direct and hands on approach ensures my clients are challenged whilst my sense of humour ensures lots of enjoyment along the way.

Qualifications and interests

I trained as a Coach with the Coaching and Mentoring Institute, College of Executive Coaching and Mindstore, Scotland.  I’m a trained Emotional Intelligence assessor, behavioural profiler, Belbin Team role analyst, Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner and Leadership styles assessor. Academically I have an Honours degree in Psychology and two Business Diplomas in Strategic Management. I am a Member of the Chartered Management Institute and the Association for Coaching. I’m a mentor for Business Mentoring Scotland and the West Lothian Chamber of Commerce mentoring scheme.

I’m an avid traveller, cinema and theatre goer, networker, writer of articles and a Member of the Association of Free Lance Writers.
